In memory of our friend and colleague, David O’Ferrall
Last summer David, a much-loved member of the Townmore team, died suddenly and unexpectedly.
David was a well-known and highly respected figure within the construction industry. A Civil Engineer by profession, he started his career in construction in the 1980’s. Prior to joining Townmore, David held several roles as Construction & Project Director and Contracts Manager, helping to deliver some of Ireland’s landmark schemes and buildings. Notable projects undertaken by David include the first high density apartment development in Malahide Marina Village, back in the early 1990’s, and the High-performance Centre in the National Sport Campus. He was also integral to countless other projects including City North Hotel, Hogan Place and many school builds. In fact, David developed the concept of the rapid construction concrete schools, which was successfully used for numerous builds from 2009 onwards.
During his time with Townmore, David, as Contracts Manager, led the construction and management of Eblana Avenue, an ambitious residential development in Dun Laoghaire. Throughout his time with the company, he brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, which he shared generously with those around him.
David enjoyed the many challenges and opportunities that come with a project and could always be relied upon to find a workable solution. He was fully committed to his role and will be remembered fondly as a formidable leader – both on and off site, a generous mentor to his team of colleagues, and, most importantly, as a friend.
He would have been proud to see how his final project shaped the skyline of Dun Laoghaire.
