Project Update: New Primary School Amalgamation in Cahir
Last October we were delighted to announce that the Townmore team were preparing to break ground on the much-anticipated amalgamation of Our Lady of Mercy Primary School and Cahir Boys National School. This huge local project was first proposed more than twenty years ago so, understandably, there has been strong interest in the progress of the build from both the community and local media.
Townmore Managing Director, James Godley, has spoken previously of the significance of this project, both for the company and for the families of Cahir who have been waiting a generation for this new school. Our site team, including Seamus Quirke, Jonathan O’Gorman, James Cregan and Morgan Fox, have shared more project updates this week and we can confirm that the ground floor slab was poured earlier this month. Works completed to date include: topsoil stripped, foundations, stub columns, substructure blockwork and radon works.
Ongoing works at this stage include the drainage, which has commenced. Also, the site team is currently working on the columns, blockwork and cill beams.
Thankfully, the recent good weather has allowed construction works to progress at pace and with the above-mentioned groundworks and substructure now in place, the team is progressing well on the superstructure works.
