The Mont Hotel: Newly Unveiled Renovation by Townmore

Wallpaper.com reports on the newly unveiled renovation of the dog-friendly Mont hotel in Dublin. Dating back to the 19th century, The Mont has transitioned from it’s early use as a bank and then to a nightclub, to a “warm, sleek 96-room retreat lined with Irish timber, customised furniture and Kvadrat fabric”. 

The Mont features retro pieces so eye-catching you may even be tempted to steal away for a night or two yourself. Design is key in this next generation hotel. “The liberal sprinkling of leafy house-plants, mesh-wire lamps, rattan screens and dark panels evoke a pleasingly mod plantation mood, whilst the bedrooms are awash in light and dressed in a masculine palette of dark greys and burnt hues.”

The Mont knows it’s clientele and had a clear vision for the building. Townmore executed that vision with craft and precision. The Sin Bar, stocked with old school gins, craft beers and more, is unlike anything Dublin has seen before. The design has gone back to the hotel’s early roots, with a 1970’s inspired flair, layered on contemporary styling. With something for everyone, you can enjoy a few glasses of Prosecco at the high seating at the bar or gather in a booth with your friends to enjoy a nice meal. Or perhaps have a romantic dinner for two at a smaller, more intimate table. It is satisfying to step back and see how the right design, expertly executed, has opened up so many possibilities for this stunning venue.

Best of all, you can bring your little fur-babies (small dogs only please!) to The Mont where you will be greeted upon arrival by the Guest Relations ‘Pawfficer’, a stunning French Bulldog Monty. She is known for having a sassy attitude at times but makes up for it with her “model good looks”, which, according to  the team at The Mont, makes her the best employee anyone could ever ask for. Bring her treats to keep her sweet all day long and she will be your best friend forever. 

On the website for The Mont, you will find terms and conditions that you must abide by for the duration of your stay, however, they are not your typical T&C’s…

 “We never had a dog that smoked in bed or set fire to the blankets. We never had a dog that stole our towels or flooded the bathroom. We never had a dog that got drunk, had a row with their travel buddy and broke the furniture… So if your dog can vouch for you, you’re welcome too.” 

This might be a first for the Townmore team, delivering a hotel that will be partly staffed and frequented by pampered pooches. Let’s hope they take the time to appreciate the ambient lighting and jewelled-tone seating.
