Townmore Team Donates €20,000 to Dochás for Local Cancer Supports

Earlier this year the Townmore staff set the ambitious target of walking a combined 5 million steps in order to raise much-needed funds for Dóchas, a charitable organisation providing holistic cancer support services to people whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

This vital organisation is primarily funded through donations and it is a lifeline for families  throughout the Midlands whose lives have been touched by cancer, including the Townmore team.

For the month of October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month – eight teams of four staff members took on this walking/fundraising challenge. The aim was to raise awareness and a target sum of €2,500 for Dóchas, which the company pledged to match. Instead, our incredible  – and somewhat competitive – team walked an unbelievable 9,500,276 steps, which is the equivalent to 7,240km! An amazing result, resulting in close to €10,000 being raised by the team and this sum was matched by Townmore, making the donation to Dóchas €20,000. 

This would not have been possible without the fantastic support we received from our staff, friends and supply chain partners, so our final words of 2021 are words of sincere thanks to all.
